It’s my pleasure to welcome you to Baptist Mid-Missions’ worldwide ministry. Some of you coming to this site are long-time friends, but others may be finding out about us for the first time. We welcome you both.
Baptist Mid-Missions was founded in 1920 by a group of independent Baptist churches burdened for world evangelism. Since our origin, God has used missionaries sent through Baptist Mid-Missions to evangelize, disciple believers, and plant fundamental Baptist churches the world over. He continues His work to this very day.
However, our generation has advantages our first missionaries wouldn’t have dreamed of in 1920. Our day is one of incredible technological breakthroughs such as email and the internet that enable us to communicate around the world, instantaneously.
But, as amazing as the internet is, it does not come close to the spiritual network God has established among believers. A reminder of this is our annual World Day of Prayer, held on Baptist Mid-Missions’ anniversary. On that day we pray for our entire Mission family by name. As we gathered in groups throughout the Home Office, we lifted up names of missionaries and nationals–some of which were unpronounceable to our English-speaking tongues–and entreated God on their behalf. Some of those we prayed for we’ll never meet in this life. Yet in Christ, we are a network of believers with unlimited access to God in prayer.
Just as enhanced communications technology allows us to go where we formerly couldn’t, God has opened doors for us to minister in lands formerly closed to missionaries. Since the fall of the Iron Curtain, we’ve been able to send missionaries to eastern Germany, Poland, Romania, Russia, and Slovakia. Within the last decade, God has also opened several Restricted Access Nations to us. These are countries officially closed to missionaries, most of which are in the 10/40 Window. By offering skills useful in the country, such as the medical or teaching professions, missionaries can enter these nations.
We invite you to see for yourself what God is doing through Baptist Mid-Missions in over 50 countries. As you explore this site, we hope you’ll find the information you’re seeking and the answers to questions you may have. It’s our desire that God will inspire you afresh in opportunities to support or even be personally involved in His Great Commission.
